Missy Nissen is a jack-of-all-trades kind of gal… well maybe more like a jill-of-some-trades kind of gal. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, comedian, “internet minister”, healer, writer, hand pie slinger and the studio manager at Yoga Now… just to name a few.

Missy believes in the power of vulnerability, the power of human connection, and the power of personal growth. And more recently, her belief in the power of the inner healer has strengthened, as she has learned to activate her own.

In March of 2020 Missy underwent high-risk surgery to remove a large, cancerous tumor from the inside of her spinal cord (what the doctors told her was just anxiety for years.. but that’s another story). She knew the risks of surgery, the highest one being her ability to walk in the future, but using meditation, visualization, and reiki (amongst other things) to prepare for the surgery, Missy went into the surgery trusting her deepest knowing that she would walk again. After a successful tumor removal, she was left in the most excruciating pain of her life, with a long recovery ahead of her. But with time and dedication to her own healing, she did learn to walk again and she continues to learn how to live within her new body.

As a disabled woman with an incomplete Spinal Cord Injury, she faces daily struggles and lasting medical complications, but her inner healer has certainly been activated. And not to be all toxically positive about it, but she has used this large life event as a catalyst for self-love, self-growth, and self-awareness. More than ever, she shamelessly allows herself to rest, to take care of herself, and to feel the expansiveness of all the feels. More than ever, she believes in the power of the inner healer.

Missy graduated from Yoga Now’s Yoga Teacher Certification in 2023, deepening her own Yoga practice with hopes of helping others to activate their own inner healer so they too, can become their most empowered selves.
